Pro Mujer Recognized as a 2012 FT/Citi Ingenuity Awards Finalist
On December 5th, the Financial Times and Citi held their inaugural Ingenuity Awards in NYC. This year’s theme, “Urban Ideas in Action,” recognized individuals and organizations that have developed innovative solutions to urban challenges in the fields of education, healthcare, energy and infrastructure.
Submissions were received from 41 countries and Pro Mujer was recognized as 1 of 4 finalists in the healthcare category for our high-impact, low-cost health program, originally launched as a pilot in 2010 in León, Nicaragua.
Clients in León receive small loans to start or invest in their businesses as well as primary healthcare and educational services all under one roof in Pro Mujer centers.
As part of the recognition, the impact of Pro Mujer’s integrated services was featured in an article, titled “Poverty in Check,” through the powerful stories of Maria Concepcion Morán and Edelma Altamirano.
